The biennial National Conference of Forward in Faith Australia was held in Melbourne from 8th to 10th November, drawing people from the breadth and length of the country.
 |
| Bishop John Broadhurst |
Guest speakers were the Bishop of Fulham, the Right Revd John Broadhurst, Chairman of FiF International, who encouraged participants to move into the future without fear, while at the same time being realistic about the inevitable collapse of the Anglican Communion.
 |
| Mother Wendy James |
Mother Wendy James from Canada, Superior of the Servants of the Sacred Cross, told the story of her Community's foundation and growth, emphasizing the need for Christians to develop new ways of seriously living the Gospel in our secular world.
 |
| Professor Tracey Rowland |
Professor Tracey Rowland, Dean of the John Paul II Institute, Melbourne, outlined recent developments in feminist thought, and described the considered response of orthodox Catholic theologians to both feminism and secularism.
The following resolutions were passed:
This Conference expresses its profound gratitude to Forward in Faith
(UK) and Forward in Faith North America for their support and encouragement throughout the difficulties we have faced during the last two years.
-------------------------------------
This Conference condemns both the circumvention of the synodical process by the Anglican Church of Australia in order to secure the consecration of women as bishops, and the offer of nothing more than the formulation of protocols to provide for the pastoral care of those who cannot accept this innovation as falling short of our demand for adequate alternative episcopal oversight.
-------------------------------------
This Conference
(a) affirms the Concordat of Communion between Forward in Faith and the Traditional Anglican Communion,
(b) looks forward to the continued co-operation of the two bodies, and
(c) notes with gratitude that the bishops of FIFA/TAC are willing to offer their sacramental and pastoral ministry to all Anglican Catholics regardless of the particular jurisdiction to which they belong.
-------------------------------------
This Conference thanks Dr Sandra McColl for her support and professional guidance during the process leading to our incorporation.
-------------------------------------
This Conference thanks the Rt Rev'd Stanley Goldsworthy for participating in the consecration of Bishops David Robarts and Harry Entwistle.
