FiF Australia
Australian Submission to the Archbishop of Canterbury's Panel of Reference
Jun 22, 2005

This Submission follows the refusal of the Anglican Church of Australia to provide Alternative Episcopal Oversight following the decision to ordain women to the priesthood.

This paper is an edited version of Bishop David Chislett’s submission to the Commissioners of the Diocese of Brisbane (under the Benefices Avoidance Canon) at a hearing held in Brisbane on Thursday 7th April, 2005.

So as to preserve the flow of the argument, reactions from well-known members of the Church of England to the purported ordination of women have been retained in the middle section of the paper. The additions to the original submission are the sections dealing with communion between the Anglican Church of Australia and the Anglican Catholic Church in Australia, and the Rosemont Consecrations.

Until 24th May 2005 Bishop Chislett was Rector of All Saints, Wickham Terrace, Brisbane. He is Vice Chairman of Forward in Faith Australia.
